Lord Almighty (Open)

Tyler looked around at the shattered remains of the building wondering why exactly he had come here. He had just been wandering about and ended up at this place.

Despite the odd pull in his chest from memories the shambles brought up to him, Ty walked closer, engulphing himself into the ruins.

He kicked some rubble around and looked through a gap in what use to be a wall.

"Lord almighty," he breathed, "What a-happened here?"

Maya heard someone speak quietly in the next room, and she peered through a gap in the wall. She squeaked to find another face peering back at her.

She laughed anxiously and apologised;

"Sorry. You frightened me a little." she admitted, blushing.

"What are you doing here?" she asked curiously. Maya came here often, soothed by the strange serenity of it. The story of this place, it was wonderful. She almost admired the man who's ghost was said to haunt it.

Tyler jumped a bit as he heard a small sound from behind him. He turned around to see a girl a few year younger than him.

He laughed off her apology, "I think yeah return the favour, so I'd a-say we're all a-good."

The young man looked around him, as she asked her question.

"To be honest, I can't a-say I'm entirly sure," he laughed. "What about yourself. I can't a-say this here is a place I'd've 'pect to see a young lady."

Maya blushed a bit.

"Sorry again." she mumbled.

"And where would you expect to see a young lady?" she demanded, her feminist side immediately rising to defense as she put one hand on her hip.

"And where are you from?" she asked curiously, recognizing a Southern accent.

Tyler held up his hands in a defensive mannor, and gave a bemused smirk, "Where ever said young a-lady want to a-be; I just a-meant I did a-not think anyone would a-want to be here."

"Is it that obvious I'm not from around a-here?" he asked with a chuckle.


"I grew up in a-Louisiana, but I've a-live here for a few a-years now."

Maya gave a little smile.

"Okay, you're off the hook then." she said dismissively, and her hand went from her hip to hang loosely at her side. "I'm not sure. I think it's sort of..well, peaceful." Maya admitted timidly.

"Quite obvious." she giggled.

"Louisiana?" She frowned.

"Do you travel a lot.......erm.... Sorry, I didn't catch your name." she blushed.

"Thank you Ma'am," he smiled his accent forming around the words making them sound even more formal and polite than they actually were.

He looked around him thoughtfully.

"I guess I can see it as peaceful, if you look at it a certain way."

He smiled softly at the questioning tone in her voice, "Its in America - a southern state."

"That would because I a-never said, but its Ty," he responded with a smile, "And other than a few states back home and here I have a-seen much of anythang."

"I like looking at things in different ways." Maya mused, and looked around the place. "I'm quite good at it, actually. It helps you see things more clearly, most of the time." she nodded.

"Right." she blushed, and hid her face in her scarf a bit. "I bunked a lot of my Geography lessons." she confessed and laughed a little.

"Pleasure to meet you, Ty." she grinned.

"I'm Amaya. Well, Maya suits me just fine."

"You travel a lot, then?" she asked.

"Don't a-worry about it," he said waving off her slight embarrassment at not being able to place his home state. "If I didn't a-live there, I might a not be able to a-find it either."

He laughed easily.

"Nice to a-meet you then Maya."

He shrugged a bit as he thought about the question, "I get around. I like a-movin', seein' different thangs. What about yourself Maya? You ever a-travel?"

Maya leaned against the wall as he talked then sighed.

"No. I've never been outside of the UK." she mumbled.

"It sucks." she laughed humorlessly.

"I want to travel the world. There's so much to see, and I'm stuck here. I feel like I'm trapped, sometimes. " she shrugged.

Tyler poked a wall cautiously before leaning against it.

"That's a-too bad," he said slowly, "The world is a-somethang interesting to a-see."

He stopped for a long moment as a thought came to him.

"But you a-know, there is always somethang to be a-said for havin' a-home to go a-back to; a place that is a-yours."

Speaking as a person who didn't have a home anymore - not one he really cared about - Ty could truely feel the truth in those words.
