Lesson Three - 3rd Years Empty Lesson Three - 3rd Years

Post by Guest Tue Jan 31, 2012 4:43 pm

Mitchell walked into the Healing Arts classroom and looked around, he noticed that it still hadn't been cleaned properly yet, Mitchell then let out a sigh then shrugged his shoulders. He then walked over behind his desk and sat down

As he was waiting for his 3rd years to arrive, he wondered how his twin Trent was going, last he heard he to was moving over to Russia to possibly teach

Anya walked inside the classroom and hoped she wouldn't be the only one taking this class. It was her second class of the day and thankfully, thanks to flying classes, she was feeling more awake that she normally would have at this hour.

"Hello Professor," she greeted politely as she took a seat.

Rhys walked into the Healing classroom, shoulder slamming into the door frame as he did so. Still not quite awake as he'd stayed up too late studying, the boy muttered a half-hearted 'ouch'. It wasn't like it was the first time he'd run into that door frame. Not even close.

He took a seat, offering a friendly smile to Anya and the professor.

Walking into the classroom, Afonka gave a warm smile at his fellow Hrabost students, the only other people in the class. Turning to the Professor, he smiled at him, a quick greeting uttered from his throat.

Taking a seat by the other students, he waited for the lesson to begin.

Mitchell sawa few students entered he smiled at them as a greeting, he then looked down at his watch, the lesson was due to start round about now. So Mitchell got up and walked around to the front of his desk

" Ok guys good to see you came, I think we may as well get started. Today we're going to be learning how to cast a spell which can clear the airways of any living being if they are choking, but before we cast the spell we must place the victim into a certain position"

Mitchell then rubbed his hands together "Ooh ok let's see.... um Mr Edmunds and Miss Telsa would come up to the front so we can demonstrate how to place someone in this position"

Rhys' eyebrows shot up. Clearly, this professor wasn't receiving his memos, otherwise, the man would be aware that he was the school klutz. Meaning... accidents happened around him. A lot. The amount of time he spent limping or bruises or in the infirmary was proof of this fact.

Suppressing a sigh, Rhys cast a glance at Anya. Standing up, he moved to the front of the room.

Anya nodded, unsure if she wanted to be the one choking. She trusted Rhys but wasn't sure if she should trust her Professor. After all, this was his first lesson and using a spell like this so early made her iffy. She mentally sighed and went to take her position in front with Rhys.

She would have made a joke due to his clumsiness but she felt he wouldn't take it to well right now. She gave him a reassuring smile," It's okay Rhys, I trust you."

The two students came up to the front of the class, Mitchell heard the girl say to the boy that she trusted to him, Mitchell gave a small chuckle " Oh don't worry Miss Telsa no one will be choking, firstly we just want to practice how to get a person into that safety position"

Mitchell then stepped to the side of the two students, he then gestured for the Hrabrost girl to sit on his desk, Mitchell then looked over at the boy " Ok so Mr Edmunds, lets say your in the Great Hall having dinner, when suddenly you look over and notice Miss Telsa over here is choking on a piece of golden carrot"

Mitchell then looked at the girl with a joking grin " And cue coughing fit" he said with a bit of a laugh. Mitchell then faced the Hrabrost boy again " So what you got to do is rush over there, and try and lay her flat on her back, then you must tilt her head to the left"

Anya sighed in relief when she heard the professor that she wasn't actually going to choke. She gave him a faint smile and followed his instructions and sat on his desk. She began to cough on the professor's cue.

Anya wasn't the only one relieved by the news that neither of them would actually be choking. Rhys let out a rather long breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding. Now, he just had to avoid dropping Anya while he was laying her on her back.

As the feigned coughing fit because, Rhys played his part.

Mitchell watched the two students perform the task he had asked them to do, " Well done guys, that was excellent" Mitchell looked down at the two student " Now would you please like to go back to your seats"

Mitchell then went behind his desk and pulled out a small cage containing a rather fat rat, he reached into his bag and pulled out cubes of cheese in a plastic bag then2 looked back at his class " Ok guys so now lets learn the actual spell" Mitchell then pulled out his wand so he could demostrate

"So you must hold your wand very firmly then give two sharp flicks and say Anapneo" Mitchell then casully place one hand on his hip and grinned at his class " So... who's first?" he asked

"Wait." Afonka glanced from the rat to Professor Ollivander, frowning, "Are we going to choke the rat?"

If they were, then he didn't think he could actually do it. There was just no way he could it. Yes, they'd have to save it, but he didn't want to hurt it in the first place. And if they couldn't do the spell in time......he just didn't want to blood of the rat on his hands.

Mitchell looked over at a boy who expressed his concern about choking the rat " Don't worry he won't be choking for long because you'll be casting the spell, and i'll be right here with my wand at the ready if you fail to cast the spell"

Mitchell then paused for a moment then looked back up at the boy " But.... if you feel you can't do it, I give you permission to leave the room just while the practical is occuring" he said to the boy in a soothing tone

Should he leave? He'd miss the chance to learn the spell if he did, which was pretty important. And he didn't want to be in the situation where someone was choking and unable to save them. But at the same time, he didn't want the rat to suffer just for them to learn.

But then again, in Magical Beasts they'd been surrounded by sick animals and had to help them. But then again, they'd been actually sick. But then again, he'd taken this class so he could help people, and to be healed, people would have to be sick. And either way, he'd have to learn the spell.

Looking up at Professor Ollivander, Afonka shook his head, "I - I think I can do this,"

Mitchell was pleased to hear that the boy could summon enough courage to particpate in this practical, Mitchell then gave him a warm smile " Excellent, thats what I like to hear" Mitchell then looked over at the rat then back at the boy

" Say Afonka, it's probably best to get it over and done with, would you like to come to the front of the class please" Mitchell asked, at this time he had already pulled his wand out as for, something told him that the boy's fear would prevent him from saving the rat

Nodding, Afonka stood up, pulling out his wand as he walked up to the front of the classroom. Looking down at the rat with a pang, he quickly glanced up at Professor Ollivander, taking a deep breath to calm his nerves, "I'm ready,"
