Use to Be

The lake was as good meeting place as any other. Roul didn't like them to come to the school, there was too much trouble when you started to cross one world with another. It just didn't work. No, Roul liked to compartmentalize his life - if he did that, it all fit together nicely, he only needed to keep a few lies here and there - for the most part - to keep everything from falling apart.

Though, at the moment, he was getting a little antsy about that very falling apart. They were late, they weren't usually late. Wait no, scratch that - they were never late. Roul hoped that it was a mistake on his part (though he never made mistakes) or else things were possibly about to get very dire indeed.

Still, whether they were late or not, Roul could not let his growing anxiety become apparent. So instead of pacing as he wished, instead the young man scanned his surroundings looking for any clue of what possibly could have gone wrong, as much as he was looking for a distraction.

He needed a distraction.

Eerika twirled the scroll between her fingers, chuckling at the smooth sounds they made as they moved. Throwing it recklessly into the air, the redhead jumped forwards, and in one smooth movement, caught it in both hands before accidentally landing into the water. It splashed above her, the ripples zooming towards the edges of the lake. Bracing for the impact, Eerika shut her eyes tightly, determined to let any water into her eyes.

As soon as she determined that it was safe enough, the redhead waved her arms about, heading towards the surface. Her head broke water, and Eerika exhaled heavily. Bobbing her head up and down in the water, Eerika began to clutch the scroll tightly towards her chest, before stuffing it in her torso.

The ginger dried herself as soon as she walked on dry land, and walked past a dashing young man. "You look dashing," she commented confidently, her tone ice cold.

It was hard not to notice her. After all, anyone who falls into a lake makes a rather grand bit of ruckus while doing it. In fact he was rather glad she did - the woman's antics were amusing enough to distract him, at least for the moment.

His gaze followed her as she got out of the water, dried off and walked passed him, acknowledging him on the way.

"Why thank you," he quipped, his grin in place, inclining his head ever so slight in an almost bow, "You don't look so bad yourself - even in the water. Maybe I say that falling is very becoming on you."

Eerika laughed, a slight colouring seeping over her cheeks. "Too bad I'm not the falling type, then," she mused. She then pretended to walk past him, before swerving her head round in a dramatic manner. Her hair flew past, clinging to her shoulders as she turned.

"It's not exactly the best time of day to be around here," she uttered, her voice taking on a raspier turn, "what on earth is so important you'd dare endanger yourself, walking around this place?" She smirked, "Do you have any time to... I don't know... kill?"

He raised an eyebrow, amused and watched her pass; it was as he had expected really, it wasn't much of a time for chatting. Still the lose of a new distraction was disappointing.

His eyes lit up slightly as she stopped, amusement written on his face, even as her following words sounded like they could have been taken as a thread, should one wish.

"Why? Are you planning on killing it if I don't?" He didn't answer her question, and he wasn't going to. It was need to know information, and she was definitely not on the need to know list.
